Post-Holiday Skin Care: What Your Skin Really Needs Right Now
01 September 2026
Home from the sun, the sea and the sangria? Gorgeous as a summer glow feels, your skin has actually been through quite a lot these past few weeks, and post-holiday skin care is about more than just topping up the moisturiser. Between UV exposure, chlorine, air conditioning and long-haul dehydration, your skin needs a little TLC before it's ready for its next treatment. Here's what we'd genuinely recommend, and why patience now sets you up beautifully for autumn.
What a Summer Holiday Really Does to Your Skin
Sun exposure increases melanin production, which is exactly what gives you that holiday glow, but it also makes your skin more sensitive and more reactive for several weeks afterwards. Add in chlorinated pools, salt water, air travel and the odd extra glass of prosecco by the pool, and most of us come home a little dehydrated, a little inflamed, and in need of some proper care rather than a quick fix.
This is completely normal. It's also exactly why we'd rather be honest with you about what to book now and what to hold off on, than sell you something that isn't right for your skin this week.
Why We'd Ask You to Wait on Laser and Peels
We know, it's tempting to want to book everything in at once when you're feeling motivated. But if you've come back with any colour at all, laser hair removal and TCA peels genuinely aren't the right treatments just yet.
With laser, treating tanned or sun-sensitised skin increases the risk of pigmentation changes and makes the treatment less effective and less comfortable. With peels, freshly sun-exposed skin is more reactive, so we'd rather give it time to settle than risk irritation. As a general rule, we'd suggest waiting until your tan has fully faded, usually two to four weeks, before booking either.
This isn't us being overly cautious for the sake of it. It's the same honest advice we'd give any of our clients, because a treatment done at the right time works properly, and a treatment done too soon just doesn't.
What You Can Book This Week
The good news is there's plenty you can do right now to help your skin recover, and it all feels rather lovely too. Our Environ facials are a brilliant place to start, they're built around Vitamin A and antioxidants specifically to support skin that's dealing with sun exposure, helping calm, hydrate and repair from the inside out. CACI facials are another gentle, non-invasive option if you're after a boost without any downtime, and our signature facial series can be tailored entirely around what your skin needs post-holiday, whether that's calming, brightening or a proper hydration reset.
If you're not sure where to start, that's exactly what a consultation is for. Come and see us and we'll have an honest look at your skin and recommend what will actually help, not just what's on the treatment menu.
Planning Ahead for Laser and Electrolysis
Once your tan has faded, you'll be in a great position to start a laser hair removal or electrolysis course, and honestly, now is the perfect time to get that booked in. A full course takes a few months of sessions spaced several weeks apart, so starting once your skin's settled means you're on track for smooth results well before the party season arrives.
Not sure whether laser or electrolysis is the right fit for you? Take our quick Laser or Electrolysis quiz on the website, it takes a couple of minutes and gives you a personalised recommendation based on your hair type, skin tone and treatment history, so you can book with confidence.
